Our Story

Luna y Sol Sanctuary was founded in July 2020 as a non-profit organization with 501c3 status. The purpose of Luna y Sol Sanctuary is to provide access to healing modalities that integrate mind-body-soul-spirit for Indigenous and underserved populations with a special focus on women and youth who have undergone trauma as a result of historical and socio-economic oppression.

LUNA y SOL SANCTUARY is committed to bridging wellness and holistic healing services to underserved communities and to educating and helping professionals who serve those communities.

It all began, when Dr. Luna was a doctoral student learning to understand her own position as a colonizer-colonized Mexica-Indigenous woman of color navigating a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology.

Through numerous conversations, engaging in critical and reflective dialogue, with Dr. Lisa Grayshield, her then professor of Psychology of Multiculturalism, at New Mexico State University, and through engaging in Native Indigenous traditional ceremonies, she began to raise her consciousness and 'awaken' into her healing journey and into her path of Self-Actualization.

Growing up with limited social and economic capital, Dr. Luna understood the need to provide access to healing that was both culturally and financially accessible. Anyone who needs, seeks, and is willing to receive support should have access to it.

We are committed to bringing forward decolonizing methodologies in education and mental health systems. We are committed to providing holistic healing services that honor the whole person and that are culturally sensitive. We are committed to enhancing and empowering the lives of women from all walks of life.

Our Mission

We aim to liberate & restore balance to mind, body, soul & spirit from a holistic and Indigenous based framework focused on BIPOC communities.

Our Vision

To see a world where women from all walks of life have agency over their minds, bodies, spirits, and souls.

Sacred Directions

We are the ones we have been waiting for. Seven Generations Forward and Back. We are all here now and gather to share the Wisdom of all our Ancestors now.

We honor the 4 sacred directions, we honor the air, water, fire, earth, the sky and ethers, the stars, the sun, moon and all around. We honor our ancestors, elders and all those who came before us and those who will come after us. We honor all living beings on this earth from the stone people to the ants, to the whales in the sea, to the birds that fly, to those who roam sacred jungles, and beyond; we choose to do our best to honor all of life and create space to be a model, a student, a teacher, a friend, a good relation to all that is.

We recognize the power of nature and the natural for healing of our mind, body, soul and spirits in all directions.

We are here to hold sacred spaces sacred honoring body and land all around.
